RF artifacts
In conductive implants, conductivity leads to a local deformation of the homogeneous B0-field. Therefore the resonance frequency of the radiofrequency (RF) waves is slightly shifted, leading to a shifted localization of the imaged voxels. This is perceived as an artifact in the image.
MR:comp has been officially accredited to conduct tests of RF artifacts from passive implants according to ASTM F2119.
